Multiverse Portals · Multiple Windows

New browsing contexts two ways: a target="_blank" link and a window.open() button. Switch handles, assert, and switch back.

Open a portal, switch dimensions, read the sign, come back. Don't get lost.

Multiple Windows is a medium Frames, Windows & DOM challenge on Fun UI Playground. New browsing contexts two ways: a target="_blank" link and a window.open() button. Switch handles, assert, and switch back. It runs entirely in the browser, with no backend. Every interactive element carries a stable id and data-testid prefixed with “windows-”, and the techniques it exercises are window handles, target=_blank links, window.open(), switch and assert.

Frequently asked questions

How do I switch to a new browser window or tab?

Trigger it, then switch by handle: a#windows-link opens /windows/portal-earth.html via target="_blank", and #windows-open calls window.open() for the other portal. Each portal page has an <h1 id="portal-name"> to assert before you switch back.

Do I need a new browser context for a target=_blank link?

No — in Playwright wait for the popup event on the current context; in Selenium read the new window handle. Both portal pages are plain static HTML with no SPA router involved, so there is nothing to hydrate before you assert.
